“We Don’t Have Money To Bet”- Lady Shades Mr Eazi And Temi Otedola Over Baby Gender Poll

A Nigerian lady has generated widespread reactions online after openly faulting singer Mr Eazi and billionaire heiress Temi Otedola over a social media poll concerning the gender of their unborn child.

In a post circulating on social media, she expressed displeasure over what she described as a “guessing game” involving whether the celebrity couple would welcome a baby boy or girl. According to her, Nigerians were being invited to take part in an activity that felt out of touch with the country’s current economic realities.

Her statement quickly gained traction, sparking debates about the responsibilities of public figures and the kind of content that trends online during a period of financial hardship affecting many citizens.

She further argued that with rising cost of living and widespread poverty, such lighthearted online engagements appeared insensitive. In her view, it reflected a growing gap between wealthy celebrities and ordinary Nigerians struggling to meet basic needs.

She wrote in part: “Rich people, rich Nigerians… are incredibly detached from reality because they are greedy and tone-deaf, asking Nigerians to vote on whether your millionaire wife is having a boy or a girl.”

The comment triggered mixed reactions across social media. While some users supported her stance and said attention should be focused on more pressing national issues, others defended the couple, insisting that participation in such polls is optional and purely for entertainment.

The conversation has since added to ongoing discussions about celebrity influence, privilege, and how public figures are perceived during times of economic difficulty in Nigeria.
