The Hormuz crisis has eased, giving India a window to strengthen trade, secure energy supplies and protect millions of workers in West Asia. The question is whether policymakers will seize the opportunity.

The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has seemingly brought immediate relief to West Asia. Oil prices have retreated, shipping costs have eased, and the worst-case scenario of a prolonged disruption to global energy flows has been avoided. For India, though, the more important question is not whether the crisis has ended, but how quickly its largest trading partner as a bloc can recover.
