Kylian Mbappe was again the star of the show, as France beat Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-final of the 2026 World Cup on Thursday night.
The France captain won a penalty in the first half but after a lengthy delay before the kick, his tame effort was saved by Yassine Bounou.
Mbappe was not to be denied, scoring one and assisting another for Ousmane Dembele after the break.
Morocco offered little in attack without the injured Ismael Saibari and bow out at the quarter-final stage.
France, with Mbappe now on eight goals for the tournament, have bigger ambitions.
Didier Deschamps’ side will face Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals.
