In an interview with Cool FM, Abayi explained that the name “Abatiade” was inspired by his Yoruba name “Abati.” However, he wanted to have a different pronunciation. So, he went to add his first name and took three letters from his last name, Abidemi.
“I spelled A-B-A-T-I-A-D-E, and it sounded lovely; it just fits so much,” he told Cool FM.
Despite becoming widely known for dance and viral content, Abatiade has said his pull toward performance actually started with acting as a child, mimicking characters from films long before ballet or the Focus Dance entered the picture.
9. He founded his own streetwear label, Focus 24/7
Beyond entertainment, Abatiade runs Focus 24/7, a Nigerian streetwear brand built around the idea of staying locked in on one’s goals regardless of obstacles, extending his “Focus” identity from the dance floor into fashion.

In September 2025, Abatiade became the first African TikTok LIVE creator to draw more than 700,000 concurrent diamonds during a broadcast streamed from Lagos, a milestone he framed as a win for African creators broadly, not just himself.
