Prominent African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New PDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mrs. Mary Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, Eze described the passing of the 89-year-old matriarch as a painful and irreparable loss to the Amaechi family and all who knew her.
He said the late Mrs. Amaechi embodied humility, dignity, selfless service, and unwavering Christian faith, noting that her life reflected the enduring values of integrity, peace, godliness, and love for humanity.
“It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of Mama Mary Amaechi. Although death is inevitable, the departure of a mother leaves a void that can never truly be filled,” Eze said.
According to him, the late matriarch was not only the mother of Amaechi but also the moral compass and quiet strength behind the former governor’s distinguished public service.
He added that the values of discipline, courage, resilience, and commitment to service that have defined Amaechi’s career were a reflection of the quality upbringing he received from his mother.
Eze further described the deceased as a devoted Christian, respected community leader, and unifying figure whose legacy would continue to live on through the lives she touched and the family she nurtured.
The ADC chieftain urged Amaechi, his wife Dame Judith Amaechi, their children, and the entire Amaechi family to take solace in the fact that Mrs. Amaechi lived a fulfilled and honourable life devoted to God and humanity.
He also extended his sympathies to the people of Ubima, the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, friends, and political associates of the former minister.
Praying for the peaceful repose of her soul, Eze said, “Mama Mary Amaechi lived well, loved sincerely, served faithfully and departed honourably. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may God continue to uphold the family she so lovingly nurtured.”
