A disturbing incident has been reported in Agulu, Anambra State, where a 21-year-old man, identified as Nwadiobi Onyeka from Isiamaigbo Village, was apprehended by local vigilante operatives over the alleged murder of his father.
According to the vigilante group, the suspect allegedly stabbed his father to death with a knife before severing his genitals in what is suspected to be a ritual-related act. The vigilante further alleged that the crime was carried out with the assistance of his friend, Chidiebere Ohakari, from Nkitaku Village, Agulu.
During interrogation by the vigilante, the suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in ritual practices, including the so-called “Okeite.” He also allegedly claimed that he had previously paid a native doctor in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area, the sum of ₦200,000 to procure human body parts. The suspect further alleged that his mother introduced him to the native doctor.
However, these claims remain allegations and have not been verified by the police or established in any court of law. The Anambra State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Observers have called on the vigilante group to immediately hand over all suspects to the appropriate security agencies for a thorough and lawful investigation. They also urged security operatives, including Operation Udo Ga-Achi, to investigate the allegations, identify any accomplices or facilitators, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The incident comes amid growing public concern over violent crimes and alleged ritual-related activities, particularly as the murder of Awka-Etiti-born businessman Lucky Adimike in Abuja remains unresolved.
