“Be Truthful, Transparent And Accountable” — PSC Promotes 13 CPs To AIG, Elevates 80 Senior Officers, Confirms 162 ASPs

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police.

The commission also approved the promotion of 80 other senior police officers to their next ranks.

The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Torty Kalu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

Kalu said the affected officers were promoted following their success in the recently concluded written examination and oral interview conducted by the commission.

He added that the promotion exercise was one of the major decisions taken at the commission’s plenary meeting.

The 13 Commissioners of Police promoted to the rank of AIG are Itam Obono, Bassey Ewah, Osagie Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Adebor, Isa Nda, Akaninyene Ezima and Livingstein Orutugu.

Others are Afegbua Rashid, Edozie Azuka, Haruna Yahaya, Emenari Innocent and Betty Otimenyin.

The commission also approved the promotion of 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioner of Police.

They are Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Murtala, Danbaba Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Oki Oyintare, Ibrahim Zungura, Iya Mohammed, Darma Na’aliyu, Nuruddeen Sabo and Tijjani Murtala.

Others are Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Usman, Akingbade Adeyinka, Mohammed Ahmed, Samuel Ahmed, Adedeji Taiwo and Zainab Pembi.

Kalu further disclosed that 28 Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, while 33 Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The commission also approved the confirmation of appointment of 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I.

Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to be truthful, transparent and accountable in their new responsibilities.

He also admonished them to remain professional in their conduct and to be cautious in handling civil matters, especially land-related disputes.

“Be mindful of the fact that there is life after retirement,” Argungu said.

“Guide your reputation and integrity. Let your actions speak for you and not against you,” he added.
