Claims circulating on social media that Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda lost $4 million after allegedly buying a stolen property in Lagos have been confirmed to be false.
The claim gained traction after a video surfaced online with a caption alleging that the singer broke down in tears during an Instagram Live session after discovering that a mansion he purchased did not belong to the seller, who had reportedly disappeared.
The viral post claimed Bella Shmurda said: “Nigeria. I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money. Only to discover that I bought a stolen property. And now the seller has disappeared.”
However, a source close to the singer dismissed the claim, explaining that the video being circulated is an old clip from 2023 and has no connection to any real estate transaction.
According to the source, the video was recorded during an Instagram Live session shortly after the death of singer Mohbad and has been taken out of context.
“This is fake news. We are not sure where the agenda came from. That video is from 2023,” the source said.
The source did not indicate whether any legal action would be taken against those responsible for spreading the false claim. As of the time of filing this report, Bella Shmurda has not publicly addressed the viral story.
