Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger Sr., known as “Big Ben,” is a former American football quarterback who spent 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. He played college football at Miami University and was picked by the Steelers as the 11th overall selection in the 2004 NFL draft.
Roethlisberger won the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2004 and made his first Pro Bowl in 2007. In 2006, at age 23, he became the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, leading the Steelers to victory in Super Bowl XL. He helped the team win another title in Super Bowl XLIII, and reached a third Super Bowl in 2011, though the Steelers lost in Super Bowl XLV.
Roethlisberger was one of the NFL’s top passers. When he retired, he ranked fifth in career passing yards with 64,088, eighth in touchdowns with 418, and fifth in completions with 5,440 among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 attempts. Ben Roethlisberger started playing football back in high school. He was the captain of several teams which are basketball, baseball, and football. Ben’s position was usually wide receiver until his senior year when he played quarterback.
That did not change even after joining the university. Roethlisberger played for the Miami University team, referred to as the Miami RedHawks. Roethlisberger played for the team for three good years from 2001 and 2003.
