Graham Platner suspended his U.S. Senate campaign in Maine, clearing the way for Democrats to choose a new nominee to take on Sen. Susan Collins in one of the key Senate races of the 2026 midterms.
The move came after a woman accused Platner of serious misconduct, an allegation he denies. Platner was facing Maine’s July 13 deadline for candidates to withdraw from the general election ballot, and the state Democratic Party will now have two weeks to put forward a replacement nominee.
