Comrade Dauda Intensifies Environmental Clean-Up Drive To Build A Cleaner & Healthier Ikeja ‎

‎The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday led an extensive environmental sanitation exercise across key locations within the council area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier and safer environment for residents.


‎The exercise commenced at Ikeja Airport Hotel, where the Chairman personally supervised the clearing of overgrown grasses around the premises. He stressed the importance of maintaining clean surroundings to improve public safety, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the environment and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.



‎The sanitation team later visited Olowu Bus Stop, Allen Bus Stop, Alausa Bus Stop and Clay Bus Stop, where environmental conditions were inspected and compliance with sanitation standards was monitored.


‎During the exercise, Comrade Dauda urged residents, traders and business owners to embrace proper sanitation practices and support the local government’s drive towards environmental sustainability.


‎The Chairman intervention reaffirmed that environmental sanitation remains one of the key priorities of his administration, noting that a clean environment is essential for improved public health, economic development and the overall well-being of residents.


‎The initiative aligns with the Environment governance Initiative of the Ikeja Agenda, which is designed to build a cleaner, greener, healthier and more resilient Ikeja through effective waste management, regular sanitation exercises, environmental conservation and active community participation.


‎The Chairman was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Adeyi Adeniyi; the Head of Department for Environment, Mrs. Olatunde Omotayo; officials of the Environmental Department; and the CDC Chairperson, Alhaja Adefolami Taibat, who actively participated in the inspection and sanitation exercise.


‎The exercise underscores Ikeja Local Government’s unwavering commitment to environmental cleanliness and its resolve to work with residents in promoting a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable community.
