Covered Number Plates Will Attract Arrest, Prosecution — IGP Disu

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has warned that motorists driving without number plates or with covered number plates will be arrested and prosecuted, regardless of their status.

Speaking on the enforcement of traffic and security regulations, Disu said no one is above the law, stressing that the practice of concealing vehicle number plates will no longer be tolerated.

According to the IGP, many crimes have been committed by individuals using vehicles with covered number plates, adding that the practice has unfortunately become a status symbol for some motorists.

He warned that anyone found driving without a visible and properly displayed number plate would be arrested and charged to court as part of efforts to strengthen security and combat crime across the country.
