Dangote refinery begins free petrol delivery to six states

Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market is set for another shake-up after Dangote Petroleum Refinery introduced free nationwide haulage for bulk petrol buyers, a move expected to lower distribution costs and intensify competition among fuel suppliers.

The new logistics incentive, announced on Wednesday, will benefit customers taking delivery of at least 250,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), with Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta listed as the first locations to be covered.

Despite absorbing transportation costs for qualified buyers, the refinery said it would maintain its ex-depot petrol price at ₦1,075 per litre, the rate announced following its latest downward price review.

The initiative comes on the heels of discussions between the refinery and stakeholders in the downstream petroleum sector over cost-reflective pricing, amid increasing pressure for further reductions in pump prices.
