Homa Bay, Kenya: The father of the late Dr Daniel Odhiambo Dondi has shared that learnt that his son was in a lot of trouble after his granddaughter started shouting, and when he got there, he was already dead.
Daniel was sadly fatally attacked amid an ongoing land dispute that pitted him against his closest neighbour, and witnesses reported that the daughter of the Maseno University professor ran and alerted neighbours, prompting the suspect’s escape.
As people approached the homestead to see what was happening The family of Dondi spoke at length about the long-standing dispute about land that ultimately ended up costing the life of a distinguished scholar.

“I heard his daughter crying and wailing at around 6, so I called my daughter-in-law and asked why Terry was crying that much,” said his elderly father.
“I thought she was being punished by her dad but when I moved closer to the scene, I was shocked to see him dead; he was killed, hacked on the neck,” added the elderly father.
