
Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the Ogba area of Lagos State.
The court remanded him over allegations of threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu in a viral video in which he also claimed that President Bola Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027.
He was arraigned on three counts bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill.
Following the circulation of the video, DJ Chicken publicly retracted his remarks, stating that they were intended as a joke to gain attention. Despite the apology, he was arrested and charged.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.
The court also ordered that the sureties provide three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative.
The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, while DJ Chicken was ordered to remain in custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
