Prince Ademola Adeniyi, the purported Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has expressed a lack of confidence in the ongoing probe by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Adeniyi made this known on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he argued that an independent panel is necessary to uncover the truth behind the crisis.
According to him, government agencies cannot objectively investigate matters involving top government officials.
“Government can’t probe government. Are you telling me that the ICPC would indict Chief Femi Gbajabiamila? It’s not possible,” he said.
He, however, commended President Bola Tinubu for setting up a panel to look into the matter but insisted that only a truly independent body would ensure credibility.
“I thank our father, Mr President, for listening by setting up a panel, but what we need is an independent panel. The Presidency already exonerated Gbajabiamila,” he added.
Adeniyi is expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
Details later.
