The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga , has strongly rejected recent allegations made by , describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement, Onanuga dismissed Peter Obi’s claim that the Federal Government was targeting him, including an incident involving his vehicle at an airport. He argued that, based on Obi’s own account, the incident may have resulted from a violation of parking regulations rather than political persecution.
Onanuga further criticized Obi over his remarks suggesting that he might not be alive to contest the January 2027 election and his allegation that people were being discouraged from inviting him to social events. He described the claims as fabricated narratives aimed at attracting public sympathy and diverting attention from what he called Obi’s credibility challenges.
The presidential aide also addressed concerns surrounding Fidelity Bank, noting that Obi has a significant interest in the financial institution. According to Onanuga, the bank continues to perform well under the current administration’s economic reforms, insisting that the government is not targeting the bank or Obi’s business interests.
He maintained that the Tinubu administration remains focused on implementing its economic reforms and has no interest in being distracted by what he described as Obi’s “self-serving narratives.”
The statement comes in response to recent comments by Peter Obi, who alleged that he has faced increasing political intimidation and frustration under the current administration.
