Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has stirred reactions online after claiming that he looks younger than many men his age because he is not burdened by the responsibilities of marriage and raising children.
Speaking in a recent video, the singer said men often age faster because they spend their lives providing for their families and worrying about responsibilities such as children’s school fees. He added that supporting a wife by helping her start a business could ease some of the financial pressure on men.
“If you look at my face and compare it with men my age, you’ll notice I look younger because nobody is stressing me over children’s school fees or family problems. Those responsibilities can weigh a man down. A man keeps providing for the rest of his life, so why not help your wife by opening a business for her?” Speed Darlington said.
His comments quickly sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some agreed with his perspective, others argued that the responsibilities of marriage and raising children are part of building a meaningful life.
Reacting to the video, @Utd_tmotty wrote, “He’s right, Akpi looks younger truly. Too many responsibilities makes men get too old.”

Sharing a different opinion, @Aaliya4me wrote, “Your choice and when you get old and wrinkled no one to take care of you, u end up in a nursing home no worries we all reap from the seeds we sow.”
