A man has stirred conversations on social media after sharing the experience of a woman whose marriage was allegedly affected by her difficult relationship with her mother-in-law, despite living outside Nigeria.
According to the narrator, the woman married her husband even though she knew his mother did not approve of the relationship.
He said the wife believed the distance between them would prevent future conflicts since the family was based in Nigeria while the couple lived in the United States.
However, the situation changed when the husband’s mother travelled to the US to visit her son.

The man said, “Lemme tell you one reason why you should never ever marry a man or woman when their family does not like you. A lady I know married knowing her mother-in-law does not like her. Her defence was, ‘We are not living in Nigeria na. Where will they see me to do rubbish?’ Guess what? Her mother-in-law travelled to the US to visit her son, and this woman first stopped at her sister’s house in Maryland, had food made in bulk and travelled to her son’s house with cooked food, stocked the freezer with it and ate only those meals throughout her stay. Why? She did not want to eat what her son’s wife cooked. Imagine the mind fuck on the wife. Trust me, you will be sad and bothered no matter how nonchalant you are. If the family doesn’t like you, please leave their child… As you grow old, all you need is peace of mind and you will never get it o.”
