Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed he is the first governor in Nigeria to complete an eight-year tenure without owning a personal house.
Speaking in a video shared with his supporters, the former Minister of Interior said he lived in a friend’s house throughout his time as governor of Osun State.
“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to rule a state for eight years without owning a house of my own.”
He challenged anyone disputing his claim to provide evidence that he owns a house.
“I stayed in my friend’s house for eight years as a governor in my father’s land. Whoever says that what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own.”
Aregbesola, who governed Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before serving as Minister of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari, said his administration was committed to reducing poverty, fighting hunger and unemployment, improving education, promoting healthy living, and ensuring peace and development across the state.
