Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has revealed that he is battling colon cancer and has appealed to Nigerians for financial support to continue his treatment.
In a video shared on Instagram titled My Cancer Journey, the actor disclosed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025. He said he has spent more than ₦15 million on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans, and medications since beginning treatment.
Nweke explained that despite his efforts to manage the illness privately, the cost of treatment has become overwhelming. He expressed appreciation to his family, friends, and colleagues who have supported him throughout the difficult period.
The actor specifically thanked Uche Nancy, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, and others for standing by him during his health battle.
Appealing to the public for help, Nweke said his doctors have advised him to continue with the next phase of treatment to improve his chances of recovery, but he can no longer bear the financial burden alone.
In the emotional video, he said:
“Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from, I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately. I have spent a lot of money and my family members have contributed a whole lot. People close to me like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others have also been supportive.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life.”
The actor said he remains hopeful of overcoming the disease and urged Nigerians to support him in any way they can as he continues his treatment.
