“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” the couple said in a statement shared by Vance on X. “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

Alec is the first child born to a sitting US vice president in more than 150 years. The couple already have three children: Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.
The Vances thanked the doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit, saying they had “been a blessing” and adding: “We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”
Usha Vance, the daughter of Indian immigrants, announced her pregnancy in January, drawing attention to the rare addition to the family of a serving holder of one of the United States’ highest offices.
Vance has previously suggested that the killing of his friend, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, in 2025 played a role in the couple’s decision to have another child, AP reported.
