The Kano State Commissioner for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Nura Iro Ma’aji, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano on Sunday.

According to the commissioner, 799 of the projects have been completed, while 709 are at various stages of completion across the state’s 44 local government areas.

He said the administration invested over N169 billion in urban renewal projects, including road rehabilitation, drainage construction, and other metropolitan infrastructure.

The commissioner also revealed that contracts worth more than N118 billion were awarded for the construction of five-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas to improve connectivity and accessibility.

On security, Ma’aji said the government approved projects valued at over N6.8 billion for the construction of divisional offices for the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch in 36 local government areas.

He added that rural infrastructure projects covering education, healthcare and other social interventions across the 44 local government areas account for contracts worth more than N397 billion, while other development projects are valued at about N255 billion.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the commissioner said the Ministry of Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation would continue to ensure that all projects comply with due process, technical standards and approved specifications.

He added that the ministry remains committed to ensuring value for money through effective monitoring of developmental projects across Kano State.
