Kunle Afod recounts his first visit to late actor Elegbeje Ado as he mourns him (Video)

Nollywood actor Kunle Afod is still mourning the loss of veteran Taiwo Adeshina, better known as Elegbeje Ado.

Kemi Filani reported that the veteran passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness.

Announcing his demise, Kunle Afod expressed appreciation for his immense contribution to the growth of Yoruba cinema. He said his talent and the joy he brought will never be forgotten.

Still mourning him, Kunle shared a video of his first visit to the late actor, praying that the actor’s soul rests in peace.

“My first visit to Baba Elegbeje Ado after so many years I saw him, lad.
Hmmm this life sha
May his soul rest in peace”.

Elegebeje Ado, was widely regarded as one of the most respected figures in the Yoruba film industry. Throughout his career, he won audiences’ hearts with his memorable performances and played a significant role in the growth and promotion of indigenous filmmaking.

His death is coming days after the death of veteran, Kola Oyewo, who passed away at 80. Kunle Afod, announced his death, noting how Nollywood had lost a true legend. He said that Oyewo’s remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Before Oyewo’s demise, Afod had received praises from his colleagues over his show of love to veterans, Chief Kola Oyewo and Peter Fatomilola. The Yoruba actor visited the veterans’ house, where he paid his respects.

Sometimes back, Kunle spoke about his passion for supporting veterans in the Nigerian film industry. He said helping them brings him joy, noting that we would all reach that position someday, and that the legacy for the younger ones is the mark he was laying.

Over the past few years, Kunle Afod has won the hearts of many with his constant love and support for Nollywood veterans.

Last year, he had raised over N600,000 for veteran Baba Ariyo after visiting his house, where he has been a tenant for 40 years. He had shared a depressing video of the pøor state of the veteran, which left him heartbroken.

The Yoruba actor paid a condolence visit to his senior colleague, Pa Tunbosun Odunsi, following the loss of his wife. On his Instagram page, he shared a video of the emotional visit to Ibadan, which left many in tears. See the video below.
