Nandi mum narrates son's rare condition that cripples him gradually

Nandi, Kenya: The mother of an 18-year-old from Emgwen has narrated living with her son Victor Kipyego from Yala Village in Chepkumia Ward, who has been battling a severe medical condition since he was two years old.

Victor, who is now completely immobile, suffers from recurrent seizures believed to be caused by epilepsy. The episodes frequently leave him with injuries, particularly on his face, forcing his family to provide him with round-the-clock care.

His mother, Caroline Jelagat, says she cannot leave Victor unattended because he requires constant supervision, assistance with feeding, and regular changing of protective underwear.

“She describes the emotional and financial burden of caring for him as overwhelming.The family survives on the father’s casual jobs, which are irregular and barely enough to meet the household’s needs. They are also struggling to educate their other children who are in primary, junior secondary and senior school,” Gwiji Isaiah told NGBREAKINGNEWS.

“Victor urgently needs a wheelchair to improve his mobility, a comprehensive medical assessment, medication, and financial assistance to cater to his daily care,”he added.
