The brother of Natalie Harp, President Donald Trump’s close assistant, has claimed that she’s looking for a replacement “father figure” in the commander-in-chief.
White House aide Natalie Harp, a devoted Trump loyalist, is often by the president’s side, and their dynamic has been the subject of much speculation. A recent book by two New York Times reporters revealed the 34-year-old has penned adoring notes for Trump, and media reports have said staff nicknamed her “human printer” because she often prints out hard copies of information for the president.
Now, Natalie Harp’s brother has speculated that her relationship with her father impacts the way she views Trump.
“While much of the media has focused on questioning whether her relationship is something scandalous, that is not where my mind goes personally. Maybe it is because I just can’t imagine something like that, but to me this is 100 percent an infatuation based on an unfortunate shared ideology of U.S. exceptionalism,” Preston Harp told The Daily Beast.
“I think that she does see Trump as a kind of father figure because he embodies the doctrine of American exceptionalism,” he added.
Preston Harp added that his sister had acted “like she wished she had a different dad,” and explained that their father didn’t “embody American exceptionalism in the least.”
American exceptionalism is the belief that the U.S. is inherently superior to all other nations.
The 38-year-old became estranged from his sister after their father died by suicide in July 2020, the Daily Mail reported.
When reached for comment, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Independent: “Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest working aides on President Trump’s team.”
In their new book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, authors Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan reported that Harp has remained by the president’s side over the last several years, including after he lost his second White House bid in 2020.
The authors claimed Harp provided Trump with positive stories and social media comments while accompanying him on golf courses in Florida, and even wrote her own adoring notes, which she left for him in “personal spaces.” One note reportedly read: “You are all that matters to me.”
She also plays a key role in Trump’s Truth Social activity, and often prints out draft posts for him to approve, The Wall Street Journal reported in May.
White House spokesperson Kush Desai has previously defended Nataile Harp.
“No president has cultivated as much loyalty among their staffers and administration officials as President Trump; this is a testament to his commitment to our country and its people,” Desai told The Independent last month. “Natalie Harp is a beloved White House Official, and the Fake News Media will never understand what it’s like to be as trusted and admired as her.”
