Notorious Bandit Commander Kachalla Sani Yellow Killed in Zamfara Security Operation

One of Zamfara State’s most notorious bandit commanders, Kachalla Sani Yellow, has been killed during a security operation in Anka Local Government Area, bringing an end to the activities of a feared gang leader widely linked to deadly attacks, mass kidnappings and cattle rustling across parts of Nigeria’s North-West.

According to multiple reports, Sani Yellow was neutralised during a joint operation involving security personnel and local volunteer forces after intelligence led operatives to his location in Anka. Although details of the operation remain limited, sources said his death has sparked celebrations in several communities that had long suffered repeated attacks allegedly carried out by his gang.

Residents described Sani Yellow as one of the region’s most dreaded bandit leaders, accusing his group of orchestrating kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling, killings and raids on villages across Zamfara and neighbouring states. Security analysts believe his elimination could weaken criminal operations in parts of the state, though they warn that other armed groups remain active in the wider North-West.
