Yoruba Nollywood actress Bimbo Afolayan has written a note to her daughter as she officially becomes a teenager.
In a lengthy post, she noted how 13 years ago, she became a mum, and her life changed forever. Bimbo described her daughter as a blessed gift that has given her nothing but happiness.
She expressed happiness at becoming a teenager’s mother and pride in her daughter. She said the moment her daughter came into her life, it has been nothing but pure happiness.
Though their journey hasn’t been easy, her daughter has remained one of her brightest lights, bringing her so much happiness with her smile, kind heart, wisdom, and beautiful spirit.

Thirteen years ago today, my life changed forever. I became a mother. God blessed me with my first fruit, and from the moment you came into my life, it has been nothing but pure happiness 😍 You are one of the greatest gifts God has ever given me, and I will forever be grateful for the blessing of calling you my daughter.
Our journey hasn’t always been easy. Life has brought different challenges and experiences, but through it all, you have remained one of my brightest lights. Your smile, your kind heart, your wisdom, and your beautiful spirit have brought so much happiness into my life.
Aliyah, you are incredibly smart, intelligent, thoughtful, and loving. You have a special way of looking out for me, encouraging me, and making me smile even when you don’t realise it. Watching you grow into such a beautiful young lady fills my heart with so much pride.
Today, as you officially become a teenager, I celebrate not only your birthday but also the amazing person you are becoming. Being your mum has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

On her daughter’s 12th birthday last year, she had rained praise and prayers s on her mini-me.
Last year, Bimbo and her husband, Okiki, were overjoyed as Aliyah returned home for summer break. Okiki described Aliyah as their sweet angel and heartbeat. He expressed how amazing it is that her presence lights everything up and brings warmth through her smiles. The filmmaker stated that he and his wife plan to enjoy every moment of being with each other.
When Aliyah turned 10 in 2023, Bimbo reflected on her labour experience. She noted how 10 years back, she was in the labour room screaming and shouting, and now, her daughter was hitting two digits.
