The Kenyan community in Canada and beyond is celebrating Constable Idris Maloba after he was honoured for his exemplary service.

Maloba, a Kenyan-born police officer who serves with the Ottawa Police Service in Canada, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to equity, diversity and inclusive policing.

The service honoured him for strengthening relationships between law enforcement and diverse communities while championing inclusion and community engagement.

From social worker to award-winning police officer

Before joining the Ottawa Police Service in 2020, Maloba worked as a social worker at the Youth Services Bureau, where he supported young people facing social and economic challenges.
