Remi Tinubu Should Encourage APC Governors to Give N500m Monthly to Needy Nigerians — Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose has urged Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to direct her call for help to APC governors, saying they hold the key to alleviating poverty in their states.

Fayose gave the advice in a post on his official Instagram page while reacting to the recent appeal by the First Lady who called on Afrobeats artistes, including Davido, Asake and Burna Boy, to stop purchasing flashy cars and use the money for charity foundations.

Remi Tinubu made the appeal while speaking at an event in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Saturday.

She referenced the philanthropic activities of the Senegalese-American singer Akon, noting that government alone cannot shoulder the growing burden of poverty alleviation.

Reacting, Fayose argued that greater responsibility should be placed on governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He recalled when the First Lady allegedly urged the governors to purchase exotic cars for APC women leaders in their various states.

Fayose maintained that many Nigerian artistes, including Davido and Asake, already support people through various charitable acts, adding that state governments should strengthen such efforts by committing more public resources to social welfare programmes.

“If you advise APC governors to set aside N500 million every month to support the poor and the needy, they will do it.

“Davido and Asake have been trying in their own ways. The governors should also contribute their resources to help the people,” he said.
