South-West Fulani Chiefs Laud Tinubu, Makinde, Security Agencies Over Rescue Of Abducted Oyo Pupils

The Council of Fulani Chiefs in the South-West has commended President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies for the successful rescue of schoolchildren and their teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The council described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, saying it demonstrated the professionalism, resilience and effective coordination of Nigeria’s security agencies.

In a statement issued on Friday by its Media Office, the council, led by its Chairman and Sarki Fulani of Lagos, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, expressed delight that the victims regained their freedom without any loss of life despite spending days in captivity.

It said the successful operation reflected the commitment of the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to protecting lives and ensuring the safety of citizens.

“The successful rescue of the abducted pupils and their teachers is a testament to the dedication, competence and effective coordination of Nigeria’s security architecture,” the statement read.

The council also urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the South-West, to reject ethnic profiling and divisive narratives capable of undermining peace and security.

It called on citizens to support efforts aimed at combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes through cooperation with security agencies.

“As resident communities, we shall continue to cooperate with government and security agencies in all peace-building initiatives and security efforts aimed at protecting lives and property across our towns, villages and forests.

“Together, we can build a safer, more peaceful and prosperous South-West and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement added.

The council further expressed appreciation to Tinubu, Makinde, the Service Chiefs and heads of security and intelligence agencies for responding to calls by concerned Nigerians, including Fulani leaders, to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers.

It also prayed for lasting peace, national unity and sustainable development, expressing optimism that the country’s security challenges would be overcome through sustained collaboration between government, security agencies and citizens.
