President Donald Trump raised eyebrows online after Fox News aired footage of him watching himself during their live coverage on the Fourth of July celebrations in Washington, D.C.
The president was seen watching the Fox News coverage alongside First Lady Melania Trump hours after lightning forced thousands of attendees to evacuate the Great American State Fair, with the severe storm pushing back Trump’s address to the nation to 11 p.m.
Trump then waved at the Fox News crew as he watched along, with host Harris Faulkner saying: “We see you! Hi, Mr President!”
The inception-esque moment left some social media users in a tizzy, as critics were quick to mock the president over the bizarre visual loop.
“My neighbor’s cat does this too,” one X user joked.
Another X user chimed in, writing, “If you zoom far enough into the screen on the screen, you can see the soul of America.”
“This almost ended the universe,” another user commented.
“Please don’t post this because it might rip a hole in the space-time Continuum,” one person joked.
Another simply wrote: “Trump watching himself watching himself watching himself watching himself watching himself.”
“This is a perfect example of the Trump Administration,” one social media user added.
The bizarre live-TV moment was captured after lightning forced 375,000 people to evacuate the National Mall during the Great American State Fair. About 150,000 made it back for Trump’s 11 p.m. speech, the president said.
Fox News reported on the chaotic scene, with the president telling host Bret Baier that he would give his prepared speech “no matter what.”
He later took to his Truth Social platform to confirm his plans writing, “Storms bring luck to whatever the occasion. They also make events a little bit more exciting! We will wait it out. I don’t care if it’s 2:00 O’Clock in the morning, or in one hour from now.”
“Looks like it is going to pass, they always do. I will be there no matter what, but the “what” usually turns out to be a good thing. It’s Saturday night, LETS HAVE SOME FUN, even if we are out late tonight. They say 11:00 O’Clock for the speech. Who cares??? Remember two weeks ago when the big UFC Event was at 100% chance of heavy rain, all week long, and just minutes before the card started. Well, there wasn’t a single drop, and the fights turned out to be among the greatest in history, an event for the ages,” he continued.
“Our great veterans, especially the old timers, many of whom are there, went through hellfire, and it didn’t stop them. It’s not going to stop us either! I’m not going to let some rain stop our 250th. I’m leaving the White House soon. God Bless America! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
