Following the incident, the Blue Angels confirmed that the flight was under review. According to officials, one of the aircraft flew lower than usual during its arrival, causing a disturbance for people on the beach. While no injuries have been reported, the unexpected moment raised questions about public safety.
Calling it a ‘low altitude pass,’ in a statement provided to ABC News, a spokesperson said, “During an arrival manoeuvre, an aircraft flew lower than standard profiles, resulting in a disturbance on the beach that affected civilian chairs and umbrellas.”

After the air show, WEAR News spoke to several beachgoers about their experience of watching the Blue Angels practice.
Ashley Korn said, “I’ve been coming for 10 years and I’ve never seen a pass like that in my life. I literally thought we were going to be taken out by Blue Angels, but it was amazing.”
Samantha Mayne added, “It was so big we thought it was Fat Albert. It was huge because it was so close. All of our tents got knocked down … It was worth it. It was awesome.”
Another spectator said the moment was so memorable that it’ll stay with them for the rest of their life. One more beachgoer said they expected to simply watch a plane fly overhead, but the close flypast made the experience far more exciting and impressive than they had imagined.
The incident happened on the first day of the Pensacola Beach Air Show schedule. A full practice show is planned for July 16. On Friday, another rehearsal will include both civilian aerobatic performances and the Blue Angels’ show. The official Pensacola Beach Air Show will take place on Saturday.
