A Nigerian woman has stirred conversation on social media after posing a question about what she believes men gain from marriage.
In a video shared online, she said she wanted to understand the benefits of marriage from a man’s perspective, asking viewers not to insult her but to educate her.
According to her, in many marriages, men are often expected to shoulder most of the financial responsibilities, including paying household bills and handling major expenses.
She also suggested that some married men feel they have to negotiate or make extra efforts for intimacy, arguing that this can contribute to the rise of extramarital relationships.
The woman further claimed that women are often on the receiving end of financial support, with much of their income being spent on themselves or their children.
She questioned what men receive in return beyond having children, noting that children belong to both parents. She also argued that conversations about marriage frequently emphasize a wife’s respect and submission but rarely discuss what practical benefits a husband derives from the relationship.
