The Minister of Transportation, Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali, has resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC), a move widely seen as a step toward contesting the forthcoming governorship election in Gombe state.
Senator Alkali was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, where he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before formally stepping down from his position as Minister of Transportation.
Although official details of his resignation were yet to be fully disclosed at the time of filing this report, multiple party sources confirmed that the former minister is expected to declare his intention to contest the Gombe State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before his appointment as Minister of Transportation, he represented Gombe North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
He previously served as Commissioner in Gombe State during the administration of former Governor Danjuma Goje, where he handled key portfolios.
