Rivers United stormed back to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a thrilling 4-2 comeback victory over Kun Khalifat, while Shooting Stars boosted their continental hopes with a 3-1 win against Enugu Rangers on Sunday.
Finidi George’s men, returning home after three weeks on the road, showed resilience in Port Harcourt. Aniekeme Okon opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Kun Khalifat hit back through Abdulrafiu Omolabi before Sunday Adehi put the visitors ahead in the 38th minute.
Rivers responded immediately. Iyowuna Douglas equalised two minutes later and Handsome Surveyor completed the turnaround just before half-time.
Douglas struck again in the 82nd minute to seal a 4-2 win that lifted Rivers to 55 points, one clear at the top, while Kun Khalifat remained at the bottom.

In Lagos, Ikorodu City edged Warri Wolves 4-3 in one of the season’s most entertaining matches. Abayomi Ayodeji scored early and later forced an own goal as the hosts held firm despite a second-half fightback.
