The Plateau State government has announced a partial relaxation of the 48-hour curfew previously imposed on Jos North following last week’s violent attack in Angwan Rukuba.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, said the decision follows reports from security agencies of a “relative calm” in the affected community.
Effective 1 April 2026, residents will be allowed to move between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, enabling them to resume essential activities during these hours.
The government urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security forces continue monitoring the area to prevent further disturbances.
Ramnap commended the cooperation and resilience of residents during the period of heightened restrictions and reiterated the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The curfew had initially been imposed after the violent incident in Angwan Rukuba, which prompted immediate intervention from both security operatives and state authorities.
