US ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Wednesday said he awaits welcoming secretary of state Marco Rubio to India soon to strengthen ties months after the two countries signed a trade deal.

Though his visit was expected in May, the ambassador did not specify the dates of Rubio’s arrival to India.

“Looking forward to welcoming my good friend Secretary Rubio to India!” he wrote in a post on X.
“The United States deeply values our growing partnership with India, and we are excited to build even stronger ties that will benefit both our nations and the world. See you soon, Mr. Secretary!” Gor said.

Earlier in the day, Rubio claimed a commitment from Indian companies to invest over $20.5 billion in the US, presenting them as results of President Donald Trump’s efforts to have money flowing back into the US.
