The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 2-2 draw by Jordan in an international friendly in Turkey earlier today, March 31.

Jordan struck first in the 17th minute to put Nigeria under early pressure, but the Super Eagles responded quickly and found their rhythm. Moses Simon levelled in the 26th minute, reacting fastest in the box to finish from close range after Ademola Lookman’s effort had been blocked.

Nigeria completed the turnaround before the break through debutant Emmanuel Fernandez, who marked his first start with a composed left-footed finish after controlling a cross from Bright Osayi-Samuel. The goal capped an encouraging first-half display that saw Nigeria take control of proceedings.

The second half brought a setback when goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was forced off with an injury following a clearance, prompting the introduction of Adebayo Adeleye between the posts.

Head coach Eric Chelle turned to his bench as the match progressed, introducing Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi to reinforce the midfield and maintain Nigeria’s advantage. Jordan, however, struck late to restore parity in the 77th minute and set up a tense finish.

Nigeria handed a debut to Phillip Otele in the closing stages, while Samuel Chukwueze was also introduced as the Super Eagles searched for a winner. NOP NIGERIA reports that despite late pressure, the match ended level, closing March’s international break with a win against Iran and a draw against Jordan.
