The pressure group for the re-election of President Tinubu as well as Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state, the City Boy Movement (CBM), Wednesday inaugurated the executives of women wing in Enugu state.
Those inaugurated at Amadeo Events Centre in Enugu were the directors and coordinators that would ensure that the president is re-elected by embarking on aggressive grassroots mobilisation.
“Today, we inaugurate a new era of leadership – one that embodies the spirit of empowerment, unity, and progress. With the mandate of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, we’re poised to drive positive change in our state.
“To our newly appointed state directors, zonal leaders, LG women leaders, ward leaders, and polling unit women leaders, we entrust you with a sacred responsibility,” the state woman leader, Ambassador Amaka Nweke declared.
Nweke said that as leaders, the women leaders were expected to mobilise and empower women to drive community development as well as create awareness to the policies and programmes of the president and the governor which will enhance their re-election.
“As leaders, you’re expected to mobilise and empower women to drive community development;
champion policies that uplift the marginalised, foster unity and inclusivity within our ranks and
drive grassroots engagement and outreach,” Nweke charged.
According to her, the federal government and state government were impacting lives by creating opportunities for empowerment of women and children through education and skills, noting that without sensitisation from a group like the CBM, those efforts would not be known.
Explaining the need to inaugurate the women wing, Nweke pointed out that they were inaugurated to “empower, to mentor women, show women inclusion in governance, women inclusion in politics and beyond that.
“They are to educate women on the policies and the initiatives of our president, Tinubu and also the policies of our governor, Peter Mbah. You know that education is key because when people don’t have knowledge about what is happening around them, they find it difficult to understand the system. So when they are educated, when they know what is going on, they tend to be part of the system.”
“What we did today is the inauguration of our structure.
Also speaking at the occasion, leader of Yoruba community in Enugu state, Oba Ishaka Salman, charged the women leaders to go all out to canvass support for President Tinubu to continue with his developmental programmes for the nation.
Represented by Chief Ayanfemi Joshua, Oba Ishaka urged the women to “preach this gospel and erase discrimination of this one is Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa.”
