Cross River state has vowed to give President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu 1.5 votes each in the general elections scheduled to hold in 2027.
Consequently, it has scheduled ‘mother of all rallies’ in Ikom on Saturday towards the realisation of the dream.
Making this known in Calabar, Thursday, the director general of a socio-political group, ‘Prince is Coming Movement,’ Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, said with the opposition practically dead in the state, the duo would have a smooth return to their respective offices early next year.
Chief Ironbar, who doubles as the chief of staff to Governor Otu, commended President Tinubu for key federal interventions in Cross River state, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and the proposed deep seaport, which he said would boost economic growth and reposition the state nationally.
“Tinubu deserves a second term, Nigerians should stop political blackmail. Asiwaju is embarking on infrastructural projects and he is taking care of students with the student loan scheme amongst others. He deserves a pat on the back and must return to the office.
“We all know that in Cross River, Governor Otu has changed the ugly narrative of the past. His performance across sectors speaks for itself,” he said.
He noted further that the administration has recorded significant strides, including widespread road construction, employment opportunities and improvements in public services, adding that the state was witnessing a renewed sense of direction.
Also speaking, the chairman of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the rally and special adviser on General Duties, Chief Ekpenyong Akiba, said the adage that one good turn deserves another should be practical in every sense in the forthcoming elections.
