Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state have urged the former executive director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaibu, popularly called DFS, not to withdraw from the governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a mega rally in his support on Saturday in Lafia, leader of the support group, Mr Elayo Confidence, urged Dr Shuaibu to step forward and offer himself for leadership in the state.

He explained that his track records in public service positioned him as a credible alternative in the unfolding political contest in the state.

He also believed that his entry into the race represents a new direction, stressing that the state needed a leader who understands both governance and the human side of development.

“DFS has all that we need in a leader. He is a servant-leader who is experienced, grassroots-based and people-centric,” he said.

Amina Sani, a 76-year-old woman leader, said young people should look at competent and reliable politicians who will deliver on the promises made, recalling her experience as a young politician over four decades ago.

“I have seen this my brother as a good man who can do it. He is not just saying it but he is trustworthy. So, we’ll be with him till the end,” he said.

Speaking also, Musa Yohanna believes that, “DFS’ style of politics is intended to eliminate internal divisions and to build a single, disciplined political front that is forward-looking”.

Responding, Dr Shuaibu, appreciated them for their continued support and confidence in his ability to serve the state come 2027.

He equally thanked them for demonstrating resilience and uncommon faith in him, noting that the outing was not to campaign but to pay tributes to the people of Nasarawa southern zone for their unflinching call.

“We have heard your calls and options for us from you as those who called on us to contest. We thank you and we will respond accordingly,” he said.

He described his decision as a moral and spiritual obligation tied to the collective aspirations of the people of Nasarawa state.

Blueprint.ng reports that DFS also visited Akwanga, the headquarters of Nasarawa Northern zone on Thursday, where he equally appreciated his supporters for their loyalty and dedication.

Governor Abdullahi Sule recently announced Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor.

The declaration has continued to generate mixed reactions amongst APC stakeholders in the state.
