The Yobe state All Progressives Congress (APC) critical stakeholders forum, has announced former Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

This is contained in a statement on the outcome of the stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

The stakeholders described Malam Wali as a seasoned technocrat with the adequate qualification, patience and temperament for good leadership and governance.

The forum noted that the former SSG had been an active player in the various administrations in the state for many years which qualifies him for continuity of the mission and vision of the state development plan.

The party at its stakeholders’ meeting last week agreed to produce its candidates through the consensus mode of election.

It also adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 Presidential election.

Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and chairman of the state stakeholders’ forum, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, said the party would continue to engage dialogue to entrench unity in the party.

With the latest move, immediate paste Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, who is also a governorship aspirant might have lost out in his bid to take over from Buni.

He is a serving Senator in the Senate.
