A former executive director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuibu, has formally withdrawn from the governorship race of Nasarawa state in 2027.

He also threw his weight behind governor Abdullahi Sule ‘s preferred choice Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, in Lafia, Dr. Faisal said the decision was taken in keeping to his word to governor Abdullahi Sule to support whoever he chooses from among the contestants from the western senatorial zone of the state.

“I gave my word that I would support who ever His Excellency governor Abdullahi Sule presented as his preferred candidate. That word was not given for an easy day. It was given precisely so it would hold on the difficult one. And so today, painful as it is, it must hold.

“Accordingly, I am formerly withdrawing from the contest for the APC gubernatorial ticket in Nasarawa state. I throw my full weight, the weight of my structure and the weight of my conviction behind the preferred aspirant of the governor, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

“The strength we have built across this state remains intact and it stands ready to serve in the journey ahead.

“To Senator Wadada, I extend my hand in partnership and my prayers for the road before you.

“The task is consequential, and the people you will serve deserve every ounce of devotion you can summon. You will not walk that road alone,” he said.

He therefore, urged every supporter who has stood with him for continued support to make Nasarawa state great.

“The work of building Nasarawa state belongs to all of us, and it does not pause because one moment has passed,” he said.

Faisal therefore, thanked governor Sule for his stewardship of the party and the transformation he is engineering in the state.
