Babandi Shehu, a public affairs analyst from Northeast Nigeria, said Senator Ali Ndume plans to return to the National Assembly for the fifth time as senator representing the Borno South Senatorial District in 2027.
He disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, the youths are already pushing for Ndume’s return ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries slated for May.
He revealed that youths of the nine local government areas of the Southern Borno senatorial district plan to secure a nomination ticket for Ndume.
He said, “Ndume is not just a senator; he is a nationalist.
“At this stage of its political history, Nigeria needs senators like Ndume who fearlessly check the excesses of the executive and tell the truth to power, not minding whose ox is gored.”
Ndume, who is a fourth-time senator, has been critical of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
DAILY POST reports that Ndume was among the senators who first raised an alarm about the country’s tax laws, which begin implementation in January 2027.
