Troops operating in forest areas between Plateau and Taraba states have rescued 12 kidnapped victims during a patrol operation.

The development was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the rescue took place in the early hours of April 15, 2026, when troops of a Combat Support Infantry Battalion were carrying out a fighting patrol in the Dajin Madam and Kumbodoro forest areas.

During the operation, the troops encountered the victims, who had reportedly escaped from their captors and were trying to find safety.

“The victims said they fled from their abductors and were moving through the forest when they came across the troops,” the post noted.

The rescued individuals were immediately taken into custody by the security team for proper identification and necessary procedures.

Sources added that efforts are ongoing to track down the kidnappers and prevent further attacks in the area.
