A lagos foremost philanthropist, Remi Odunsi (nee Oluwalogbon) has thrown her hat into the ring to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent the people of Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos state.
Odunsi, a graduate of Management & Accounting from the University of Ife, also holds an ACCA certification, with executive programmes from Lagos Business School, Harvard and EDHEC.
Her diverse investment portfolios includes founder and CEO at Eridan Group, along with non-executive board positions at Mascot Insurance Brokers, Executive Coach Builders (USA) and Lighthouse Group.
She has craved a niche for herself as a community development advocate, spearheading skills acquisition and empowerment programme impacting over 4,000 beneficiaries across Ketu, Ikeja and Epe in 2023.
She also partnered with Lotus Bank to train and provide grant funding to market women through the Street Business School initiative in 2024.
It could be recalled that through her, ‘Threefold Impact’, she helped to instal solar-powered boreholes across Lagos, Ogun and Ibadan, supported school renovations and impacted over 5,000 families through annual food distribution programmes.
According to her, she is running for the reps seat to enable her scale up the impact of community development initiatives while giving her the voice for proper representation.
“I have been doing this work for years without holding public office. Imagine what becomes possible when someone with genuine passion for service and a heart for the people is elected into the National Assembly. If we are to transform lives at scale in Kosofe Federal Constituency, we must have a seat at the table—particularly at the National Assembly, where laws are made and policies are shaped. This is why I am in the race for the House of Representatives,” she said.
At the core of her ambitious 7-point legislative agenda include facilitating the two digital skills and enterprise centres targeting the training of 10,000 young people across Kosofe, sponsoring legislation that expands women’s access to enterprise finance, expansion of healthcare access, particularly for women and children, alongside practical food security initiatives that improve everyday access to affordable nutrition for families, championing federal infrastructure investment in Kosofe’s major markets alongside the Micro Small and Medium Scale (MSME) formalisation of 3,000 businesses linked to credit and digital commerce infrastructure, among others.
A recipient of the 2023 Yessiey Philanthropist of the Year Award and widely recognised as one of Africa’s most influential women in international development, she brings to the race a wealth of private sector experience, strong family values and extensive global networks, all of which she intends to leverage for effective representation.
“Kosofe has the people, the commercial energy and the geographic position to be something remarkable. What it has needed is representation that matches its potential. I am a woman you can trust. Kosofe’s best chapter has not been written yet. I am asking for the opportunity to help rewrite it,” she said.
