A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Kano State Governor, Kabiru Gaya, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress is threatened by the ADC’s rising profile.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Gaya made the claim on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television.
The former governor accused the ruling party of attempting to undermine the ADC, similar to what he claimed happened to other opposition parties.
“I know the major party is working hard against us. They were not worried at all before, because they had crashed the PDP and other parties. But they didn’t know that ADC was coming up,” he said.
Gaya expressed confidence in the ADC’s prospects, noting that members remain determined despite challenges.
“The members of the ADC are totally committed to making sure the party becomes successful. We are doing our best, and we have gone through so many hurdles. We’ve crossed those hurdles,” he said.
He added that the party’s leadership includes experienced politicians capable of driving its growth.
The former governor also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain neutrality in dealing with political parties.
He stressed the need for fairness and transparency in the electoral process.
According to him, the commission must be “honest, sincere and able to work with every party,” adding that it should serve as a neutral platform rather than act in the interest of any political group.
