The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on Friday warned land-grabbers encroaching on other people’s property to stay away from villages in the Oyo West local government area.

Oba Owoade gave the warning in a statement released by his Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan.

According to the statement, land-grabbers most times use violence, threats or force to demand fees from real property owners.

Oba Owoade said the warning was as a result of violent attacks being unleashed on residents of 12 villages in the Oyo West by land-grabbers namely Itosi Yaya;  Tella Omooba;  Jowe, Idi-Iyalode; Bada; Ladindin; Janna; Ojutaye; Iporin Kajola; Ajibade; Laagbe, and Ariwinyo.

Alaafin maintained that Oyo metropolis is blessed with a very large geographical land mass, “so there is no gainsaying that land is an important factor, if not the most important factor, for economic growth.”

He said his administration placed high priority on the peace, order and security of lives and properties in the Kingdom, adding that it would leave no stone unturned in its determination to sustain peace and security.

Oba Owoade advised members of the public to disregard any individual, group or business establishment who parade themselves as rightful owners of the land mass in the communities.
