Donald Trump said he held conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following which both sides agreed to begin a 10-day ceasefire aimed at achieving peace between the two countries.

Trump said the ceasefire will formally commence at 5 P.M. EST. He described the discussions with both leaders as “excellent” and said the agreement marks a step towards ending tensions between Israel and Lebanon.

According to Trump, the two countries met for the first time in 34 years in Washington, D.C. The meeting was attended by Marco Rubio. He added that efforts are now underway to move beyond the ceasefire towards a more permanent resolution.
Trump said he has directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, to work closely with both Israel and Lebanon to achieve a lasting peace.

He further stated that resolving the conflict would mark his 10th effort at ending wars globally, adding that he has previously “solved” nine wars across the world.

Separately, Trump confirmed the development, stating that a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been agreed upon by both sides.
